Open Studio’s Notts

The artists and makers Upstairs@Thoresby warmly invite you to join them for the Notts Open Studio’s event. On the weekend of 23rd and 24th May, you’ll be able to see the workshops and studios of five resident makers and one or two guest makers too.

Come along and learn about their inspirations, techniques and participatory workshops. Bring a friend and make a day of it with a walk in the lovely grounds and a visit to the café.

Opening to the public will be:

Dawn Idalia’s art studio, see contemporary drawing, photography and printmaking. She’ll be sharing her inspirations for the natural environment and also explaining how you can learn the fascinating process of Cyanotype making with her.

Frances Alexandra Jewellery, visit the workshop where she hand makes bespoke jewellery in platinum, gold and silver using precious and semi-precious sones. Also discover Alex’s silver jewellery classes for all abilities.

Suzanne Curtis’ Fragments and Faerytales textiles studio is where she makes textile and mixed media art with a magical, otherworldly feel including velvet toadstools and crystal coronets. Suzanne also offers workshops from her enchanting workspace.

Tracey Bramley (The P Pod) Ceramics will be sharing her hand made sculptural/functional ceramics made from porcelain and stoneware that connect art with the natural world. Each piece is inspired by texture, colour and organic form and a wide variety of workshops are on offer.

Also open will be Summer Daisy Natural Skin Care, visit Carol who makes a range of plant-based skin care using pure essential oils, packaged in an environmentally friendly way.  Carol will be hosting sculptor Bob Wood, who works with a wide range of stone, and semi-precious stones to make his standout sculptures and wearable art.

Plus the quirky onsite gallery will be showing humous prints, artisan glass ware, stunning wildlife illustrations, subtle botanical plaster work and much more. Come along and meet our fabulous makers and take home some truly unique and beautiful work.
