Ceremonies at Thoresby Park

Our civil ceremonies take place in our stunning Victorian Riding Hall, beneath its large windows is where your ceremony will take place. The maximum capacity for a civil ceremony is 120 people. The ceremony area can be styled as you like with additional items such as arches, carpets + room divides, however you like.

We do have a civil ceremony fee which can be added to your booking, and you will also need to contact a registrar to come and marry you. We are in the North Notts area and can put you in touch with the right people. We cannot book your wedding with the registry office, this by law has to be done by you. You will receive a welcome pack from the registration office where you can detail what you would like in your ceremony.

Ceremonies will last between 20-30 minutes depending if you add poems or additional music. Civil ceremonies are removed from religion with no hymns or readings, which is worth remembering if you are torn between a church or civil wedding.

St Johns Church – Perlethorpe

Welcome to St. John the Evangelist Church in Perlethrope. An historical site in the grounds of Thoresby Park, surrounded by farmland and beautiful wildlife. Perfect for your dream church wedding.

Set in the private estate grounds, St. John the Evangelist Church sits a beautiful 1 mile ride from our Riding Hall wedding venue.

The Parish Church of St John the Evangelist at Perlethorpe stands in the ancient grounds of Thoresby, as listed in the Domesday Book, later to become the ducal estate of the Pierrepont Family, viz Earls & Dukes of Kingston upon Hull and Earls Manvers, whose forebears had arrived on these shores at the time of the Norman Conquest.

The current church building provided by the 3rd Earl Manvers consists of a chancel, nave with north and south aisles, a western tower with spire, a south porch and a vestry.

The church was given by William II to the Dean and Chapter of Lincoln as one of the Chapelries of Edwinstowe and is mentioned in the first Chronicle of 1146. Edwinstowe remained with them until 1878 when Earl Manvers exchanged it for St Mary’s at Nottingham. However, in 1836 Perlethorpe, with Thoresby included, was created a separate benefice following an Act of Parliament, allowing Earl Manvers to endow the chapelry.

A truly stunning venue for your weding service.
