Welcome to Thoresby Park
The Pierrepont family is delighted to welcome visitors to Thoresby Park, this precious landscape is in our care and we ask all visitors to assist us in treating the park with respect. Our beautiful landscape is rich in heritage and diversity, walk among the old oaks, deer park and stream and take in the awe-inspiring Thoresby Hall, designed by Salvin.
Our estate is a living and breathing space for all to enjoy, during your visit you may be lucky to catch a game of cricket on the lawns, enjoy a picnic on the grass, dip your toe in the river or just sit and relax whilst our hardworking farmers are sowing or harvesting the fields in the distance.
However you spend your time at Thoresby Park we hope you enjoy your visit.
Our History
Thoresby Park is a historic country estate located in Nottinghamshire, England. The estate has a rich and varied history dating back to the early 16th century when the land was owned by the powerful Pierrepont family. In the mid-18th century, the estate was acquired by the 1st Earl of Manvers, Charles Pierrepont, who commissioned the construction of the grand Thoresby Hall, which became the centerpiece of the estate.
Thoresby Woodland
Thoresby Park is covered by more than 1000 hectares of woodland. The woodlands include the large spreading oaks of Sherwood, colourful splashes of holly and rowan, deep dark areas of pine and avenues of majestic redwoods. We are proud to have a Special Area of Conservation with one of the densest coverings of ancient oak trees in the country, some of which are more than a thousand years old.
